You're The One For Me (Labor of Love Mix) - D-Train

You're The One For Me (Labor of Love Mix) (1985) (5'57) - D-Train.

N.B. You're The One For Me (Labor of Love Mix) is the same mix as You're The One For Me (Paul Hardcastle '85 Remix) that may be found elsewhere on this blog.

You're The One For Me is the title track of the 1982 debut album by D-Train. Released as a single in late 1981, You're The One For Me topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 2 weeks in February 1982.

In 1985 Paul Hardcastle, a UK producer and singer-songwriter, remixed You're The One For Me for a new audience. The remix was released as a single and peaked at No. 15 on the UK Singles chart.

A quote found on the back of the record sleeve for the UK 12" vinyl pressing of the Paul Hardcastle remix states,

"In 1981 there was a record that really impressed me. That record was You're The One For Me by D-Train. When Peter Robinson at RCA asked me to remix it I just couldn't resist the temptation of working on a record that has had so much influence on my career." - Paul Hardcastle, July 1985.

A year earlier, in 1984, Paul Hardcastle paid homage to You're The One For Me when he released a cover version of the song sung by Kevin Henry as part of a 3-track medley. It's quite possible that as a result of Paul's cover version he was asked to remix the original track by D-Train.

You're The One For Me (Labor of Love Mix) appears on Side A of the UK 12" vinyl pressing of You're The One For Me (Labor of Love Mix) released in 1985 on Prelude Records. Cat. No. ZT 40302.
